NOTE: SENECA, SC - Edith Lydia (Marotz) Pierce, 91, formerly of Webster, MA, passed away at Oconee Memorial Hospital, in Seneca, SC.

She was predeceased by her husband, Andrew, in 2015. She is survived by three sons, Lawrence of Seven Valleys, PA, his long-time girlfriend Ann Koenig of Rockville, MD; Leland and his wife Janice (Richards) of Ann Arbor, MI; and Christopher, of Seneca, SC; and two grandchildren, Deborah and Julia Pierce.

Edith was born in Webster on July 12, 1929 in Webster, the only child of Otto and Lucia Marotz. She graduated from Bartlett High School in 1947 and then attended Boston University, graduating in 1951. She married Andrew Pink in 1952. Edith was employed in a variety of different jobs during her working years. Her final job was at Henry Ford Hospital in Dearborn, MI, as a medical technologist. In retirement, Edith loved swimming in the lake, tending her garden, and painting. She was an active member of the local Seneca Art community. Edith was a loving mother and mother-in-law to her entire family. She was never known to say an unkind word to anyone. She was remarkably cheerful as well, and even during her dementia years was gentle and showed none of the anger that generally comes with that horrible disease.

The family would like to thank her aide Robert Wicks, for caring for her the last several years of her life. They would also like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Oconee Memorial Hospital for keeping her comfortable during her last days.

Funeral arrangements have been made through the Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home and Edith will be buried with her parents at Mount Zion Cemetery in Webster.
