CATEGORY: Event TYPE: Obituary DATE: 1999 NOTE: BELLINGHAM - Martha "Mitsi" (Schaefer) Rogers, of 429 Hartford Ave., formerly of Webster, died Thursday, Oct. 21, at home after a brief illness.
Her husband, Oscar D. Rogers, died in 1985. She leaves two sisters, Helen E. McGovern and Gertrude I. Bayer, both of Webster; three half-brothers, Edmund and Harold Schremser, both of Oxford, and Wesley Schremser of Webster; a half-sister, Louise Mattila of Webster; nephews and nieces. A half-brother, Eugene Schremser of Webster, died in 1998; and a half-sister, Olga Mortitz, died in 1982. She was born in Webster, daughter of Franz and Lena (Redlitz) Schaefer, and lived here 49 years.
Mrs. Rogers was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, Webster, and its Ladies Aide Society. She had also served as past president. She was a past worthy matron of the Nokomis Chapter 128, Order of the Eastern Star. She was an avid golfer, winning many tournaments and was a member of the Raceway Golf Course in Thompson. She enjoyed doing charitable and volunteer work in the community and was formerly a Girl Scout Troop leader and helped with the Salvation Army.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, in Emanuel Lutheran Church, 7 First St., Webster. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Webster. There are no calling hours. Please omit flowers. Contributions may be made to the Emanuel Lutheran Church, Memorial Fund, 7 First St., Webster, MA 01570. Robert J. Miller Funeral Home, 366 School St., Webster, is directing arrangements.
