CATEGORY: Event TYPE: Obituary NOTE: WEBSTER Gertrude I. (Schaeffer) Bayer, 89, of Webster, died Saturday, Dec. 24, in the Meadows of Leicester. Her husband of 62 years, George D. Bayer, died in 1999.
She leaves 2 sons, George R. Bayer and his wife Janet, and Kenneth A. Bayer and his wife Debra, all of Webster; 2 daughters, Janice G. Tupaj and her husband John of Webster, and Linda L. Chung and her husband Milton of Honolulu; a brother, Harold Schremser of Oxford; a sister, Helen McGovern of Webster; a daughter-in-law, Anne Bayer of Thompson; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Clayton Bayer, and by many brothers and sisters.
She was born in Dorchester, a daughter of Franz and Lena (Redlitz) Schaeffer, and lived here for many years.
Mrs. Bayer was a homemaker. She was a longtime member of Emanuel Lutheran Church and recently became a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Oxford.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, Dec. 30, 2005, in Zion Lutheran Church, 70 South Main St., Oxford. Burial will be in East Thompson Cemetery. Calling hours are private. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Scanlon Funeral Service, East Main Street.
