THOMPSON - Clayton J. Bayer, 60, of 55 Bonnette Ave., East Thompson, a salesman for many years, died Saturday at home after a long battle with leukemia.
He leaves his wife of 39 years, Anne M. (Peterson) Bayer; three daughters, Debra A. Bomba and Donna L. Fedler, both of Webster, and Barbara E. Bayer of Dudley; his parents, George D. and Gertrude I. (Shaffer) Bayer of Webster; two brothers, George R. and Kenneth A. Bayer of Webster; two sisters, Janice G. Tupaj of Webster and Linda L. Chung of Honolulu; four grandchildren; aunts and uncles; and nephews and nieces. He was born in Webster and graduated from Bartlett High School. He lived in Thompson for many years. He was an Army National Guard reservist from 1957 to 1964.
Mr. Bayer was a salesman for several area auto-salvage companies. He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Webster, serving many years on the church council and as treasurer. He was also a Sunday school superintendent. He was an avid gardener.
After cremation, there will be a memorial service at 10 a.m. Friday in Emanuel Lutheran Church, 7 First St., Webster. Burial will be in East Thompson Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
