CATEGORY: Event TYPE: Obituary DATE: 27 Nov 2012 NOTE: OXFORD - Joan G. "Joannie" (Schremser) Greene, 63, of Oxford, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 in Rose Monahan Hospice Home, Worcester.
She leaves her husband of 46 years, Gary A. Greene; a son, Michael A. "Mick" Greene and his wife Cindy M. Greene of Oxford; a daughter, Holly J. Picard and her husband Taze P. Picard, Sr. of Dudley; 2 grandchildren, Taze P. "TJ" Picard, Jr. and Brad M. Picard; her mother, Marjorie L. (Thompson) Schremser and a twin sister, Jane L. Sanders and her husband Harry, all of Oxford; 2 nephews, Kevin Sanders and his wife Melissa and Craig Sanders; a great-niece Haley Sanders and a great-nephew Thomas Sanders. Her father, Harold C. Schremser, died January 2, 2012.
She was born in Webster and lived in Oxford all of her life. She graduated from Oxford High School in 1966.
Joannie was a fantastic wife, a phenomenal mother and a doting grandmother who loved her family and friends very much. She was a member of the Oxford United Methodist Church and a former Sunday school teacher there. Shopping was her pastime.
Joannie's family would like to thank all her doctors and their staff both at UMass University Campus' Cancer Center and at UMass/Memorial's Belmont Street facility. The family extends a special thanks to the staff at hospice, especially Nancy Noonan from VNA of S. Worcester County, for providing Joannie with the best care, keeping her safe and comfortable in the last few days.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. There are no calling hours. Donations in her memory may be made to the VNA of S. Worcester County, PO Box 368, Webster, MA 01570-0368. Arrangements are under the direction of Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, Webster.
