CATEGORY: Event TYPE: Obituary NOTE: NORTHBOROUGH Roland G. Nourse, 83, of 27 Winter Street, died Tuesday, December 25, 2007 at St. Vincents Hospital in Worcester following a short illness.
Roland is survived by his wife, Edna E. (Weinert) Nourse of Northborough; a son, Brian C. Nourse and his wife, Terri, of Lancaster; a daughter, Lynne J. Ferro and her husband, Thomas, of Northborough; two brothers, David Nourse of Shrewsbury and Wesley Nourse of Port St. Lucia, FL.; a sister, Dorothy West of CT.; four grandchildren; five great-grand children; several nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Westborough, he was the son of the late Leon and Louise (Johnson) Nourse. Roland has been a resident of Northborough for over 50 years.
Roland was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served during WWII in the European Theatre in England, Belgium and France. He was a member of the 383rd Squadron 364 Fighter Group in England.
Roland graduated from Westborough High School in 1942. Since high school, Roland worked as a supervisor in shipping and receiving at Bay State Abrasives in Westborough for many years. He enjoyed flying Piper Cubs and Cessna 150s at the former Westborough Airport. Roland enjoyed flying R.C. planes and years ago, he also enjoyed camping.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 29th, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street (Rte.20) Northborough. Burial will follow in Howard Street Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday, December 28th, 2007 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Hays Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the: Leukemia Society of America, Mass.
