NOTE: Henry M. Stamp, 89, formerly of Stone Avenue, a retired carpenter, died Tuesday at Harborside Healthcare - Pawtuxet Village. He was the former husband of the late Estelle C. (Murphy) Stamp.
Born in Providence, a son of the late Martin and Anna (Fronius) Stamp, he had lived in Providence for most of his life, before moving to Warwick.
A veteran of the United States Army, he served in World War II and was a recipient of the Bronze Star.
Mr. Stamp was a self-employed carpenter for the former Tampas Company and had been employed with Washburn Wire Company until his retirement.
He had been an active member and former sexton of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Providence, and was most recently a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Warwick.
Mr. Stamp was an avid gardener and fisherman and enjoyed walking along the shoreline and traveling throughout the U.S. Above all, he was devoted to his unwavering faith and his family.
He was the loving father of Michael W. Stamp of Florida, Kathleen M. Stamp of Cranston and Karen S. Ross of North Attleboro, Mass.; the cherished brother of Martin J. Stamp and Joseph Stamp, both of Cranston, Louise Petrella of Warwick and Esther Stamp of Huntington Beach, Calif.; the devoted grandfather of Daniel Ross and Erin Stamp; the loving great-grandfather of Jacqueline and Julianna Ross; and the beloved uncle of several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Anna Vaughan, Elsie Kausch, and Katherine Stamp.
His funeral was held Jan. 11 in The Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Ave., Warwick, followed by a burial with full military honors in The Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
