WORCESTER -- John C. Batbouta, 81, of 38 Circuit Ave. East, a World War II veteran and retired machinist, died Tuesday, July 17, in Christopher House after a long illness.
He leaves his wife of 46 years, Olga D. (Bollus) Batbouta; two sons, Dr. John C. Batbouta of Shrewsbury and David A. Batbouta of Hollis, N.H.; two daughters, Paula F. Mariani of Shrewsbury and Linda M. Chelio of Worcester; a brother, Mitchell C. Batt of West Boylston; 13 grandchildren; nieces and nephews. His first wife, Marguerite L. (Barouk) Batbouta, died in 1951. He was born in Pawtucket, R.I., son of Charles and Mabel (Lafty) Batbouta, and was an Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Batbouta was a machinist 35 years at A & M Tool & Die Co. in Southbridge, retiring in 1985.
He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, the Knights of Columbus Alhambra Council 88, Disabled American Veterans Post 4, the Greendale Retired Men's Club, and the Melkite Knights. He received the Cross of Jerusalem in 1968 from the Patriarch of Antioch.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 20, in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 256 Hamilton St. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Mausoleum. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 19, in the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 256 Hamilton St., Worcester, MA 01604.
