WEST BOYLSTON -- Virginia M. (O'Connor) Batt, 73, of 12 Phillips Drive, formerly of Fitchburg, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center, Worcester, after an illness.
She was born in Fitchburg, the daughter of John J. and Madeline (Sullivan) O'Connor, and had lived there before moving to West Boylston. She graduated from the former St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing, Worcester, in 1948.
A registered nurse, Mrs. Batt was director of nurses at Oakdale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for many years before she retired in 1984.
She was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church and its Women's Club. She was also a member of the West Boylston Women's Club.
She leaves her husband of 52 years, Mitchell C. Batt; a son, John M. Batt of Exton, Pa.; two daughters, Linda M. Malgieri of State College, Pa., and Rosemary C. Kusy of West Boylston; a brother, John M. O'Connor of Fitchburg; and 11 grandchildren.
Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery.
