George P. Chelio, 58 Worcester - George P. Chelio, 58, passed away after a short illness on Sunday, December 13, 2015, surrounded by his family. He was born in Worcester, a son of Paul and Hope (Janollari) Chelio. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Linda M. (Haywood) Chelio; a son, Stephen P. and a daughter, Sarah M. Chelio both of Worcester; a niece; two aunts, and several cousins. He resided in Worcester his entire life. A sister, Dolores Sullivan predeceased him. He graduated from Burncoat High School and Worcester State University. He was a postal carrier in Holden up to the time of his passing. Previously, he was a machinist at the former Phalo Corporation in Shrewsbury. He was a member of St. Mary's Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church, its Sons of St. Mary's and the Auburn/Webster Lodge of Elks. George enjoyed candlepin bowling and was a member of the bowling league at Colonial Bowl in Worcester for many years. Family and friends are invited to join the Chelio family for visiting hours from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, December 17 and again at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, December 18 at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden before proceeding to St. Mary's Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury Street, Worcester for the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Rev. Fr. Timothy Lowe. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. A Trisagion service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday officiated by the Rev. Fr. Mark J. Doku. In lieu of flowers, contributions in George's name may be made to St. Mary's Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church Endowment Fund, 535 Salisbury Street, Worcester 01609.
