NOTE: East Greenwich – Albert C. Stamp, 87, of Cindyann Drive, died Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Kent Hospital in Warwick. He was the beloved husband of Bernice (Pearson) Stamp. Mr. and Mrs. Stamp celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on June 16, 2009. Born in Johnston, a son of the late Martin and Katherine (Stamp) Stamp, he had lived in East Greenwich since 1965. Mr. Stamp and his brother Martin were the owners and operators of the Howard Johnson restaurants in Johnston and East Providence. He was a United States Navy veteran. He was an avid gardener who also enjoyed boating, fishing, golf and cooking. Besides his wife he is survived by one daughter Joyce Stamp Lilly and her husband Ralph of Washington, TX and West Kingston; three sons Donald A. Stamp and his wife Ivonne of Goffstown, NH, Paul A. Stamp of Hobe Sound, FL and David P. Stamp and his wife Sandy Leavell Stamp of Hollis, NH; two sisters Katherine Schleicher of Eastham, MA and Gertrude Gray of Dighton, MA and four grandchildren Brittany, Andrew, Phillip and Leslie Stamp. He was the brother of the late Hilda Lord, Martin and Edward Stamp. The Stamp Family would like to thank Dr. Joseph Brady and the staff at Kent Hospital for their excellent care. Funeral service Saturday, May 1 at 10:00 AM in First Lutheran Church of East Greenwich, 118 Division Street. Calling hours, TODAY, Friday from 4:00 – 7:00 at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Donations in his memory may be made to the Church where a Reflection Garden will be established with a bench on the church grounds in honor of Mr. Stamp.
