South Kingstown - William M. Stamp sr, 83, of bedford Drive died yesterday at South county Hospital. He was the husband of Ruth B. (Henry) Stamp.
Born in Providence, a son of the late Martin and Anna(Stamp) Stamp, he lived in South County for 10 years. He previously lived in Cranston for 50 years.
Mr. Stamp was the original owner of Stamp Farm, Comstock Parkway, Cranston for 50 years, before retiring in 1980.
He was a past master of the antioch 46 Grange, Johnston, a member of Oaklawn Grange 42, Cranston and a member of pomona, State and National Granges. He served on the Northern Rhode Island Soil Conservation District for 25 years, and was a member of the Rhode Island Farm Bureau
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, William M. Stamp Jr. of exeter, a daughter Martha A. Stamp of South Kingstown; Four sisters, Anna Kilguss and Marie Henry, both of Cranston, Frieda Steer of Smithfield, and Emily Sherman of Enfield, Conn; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was bother of the late Martin and John Stamp.
The funeral will be held Friday at 11:30 am from the Russell J Boyle and Son Funderal Home, 142 Centerville, RD. Warwick, with a service at 1 pm at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Elmwod Avenue, Providence. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. PLAC: Johnston, Providence, RI
