John H. Stamp, 74, of Blue Gentian Road, a retired poultry and vegetable farmer, died Wednesday at St. Joseph Hospital, North Providence. He was the husband of Versa M. (Ringrose) Stamp.
Born in Johnston, he was a son of the late Martin and Anna (Stamp) Stamp. He lived in Cranston most of his life.
He was associated with Stamp's Farm on Plainfield Pike for 40 years before he retired in 1982.
Mr. Stamp was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Lutheran Laymen's League.
Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Paula M. Richard of Scituate; a brother, William Stamp of Charlestown; four sisters, Ann Kilguss and Marie Henry, both of Cranston, Frieda Steere of Smithfield, and Emily Sherman of Enfield, Conn.; and one grandson. He was the father of the late Patricia A. Stamp, and a brother of the late Martin Stamp.
The funeral will be held tomorrow at 9:45 a.m. from Russell J. Boyle and Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Rd., Warwick, with a service at 11 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 445 Elmwood Ave., Providence. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
