CUMBERLAND – Michael and Joanne Kanakry celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on May 1.
Mr. and Mrs. Kanakry were married on May 1, 1960, at St. Basil the Great Church in Central Falls. Mrs. Kanakry is the former Joanne Judith Noury.
The couple are the parents of Michael James and Denise Marie of Pascoag, and Steven Robert of Cumberland. They are the grandparents of Samantha Jacqueline, Allyson Michaela, Sydney Catherine and Joshua Michael.
Mrs. Kanakry was employed as a social worker for the Pawtucket School Department, retiring in 2008. She enjoys gardening and spending time with family.
Mr. Kanakry is a U.S. Navy veteran. He retired from the Kanakry family business, Sam’s Market, founded in 1947. He enjoys spending time in Florida with family.
