CATEGORY: Event TYPE: Obituary DATE: 24 Dec 2007 NOTE: John “Red” Mason, 73, of 68 Watson Rd., died peacefully Monday, Dec. 24 in Hubbard Regional Hospital, Webster.
He leaves his wife of 51 years, Joan (Neulieb) Mason; two sons: John Mason and Robert Mason, both of Thompson, CT; one brother: Paul Mason of Webster; three; granddaughters and two grandsons, and many nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by brothers: Earl, Jimmy and Edward Mason.
He was born and raised in Webster, MA, the son of Edward and Katherine (Duffy) Mason. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Red was president and a founding partner in 1960 of M&M Excavators in Webster. He still enjoyed supervising the day to day running of the family business.
Mr. Mason was a member of St. Louis Church, a member of Webster Lodge of Elks 1466, American Legion Post 184 and the V.F.W., all of Webster. Jack was dedicated to family and his work.
His funeral will be held Thursday, Dec.27 from Bartel Funeral Home & Chapel, 33 Schofield Ave., Dudley with a Mass at 10 AM in St. Louis Church, 14 Lake St., Webster.
The Webster-Dudley Veteran Council will provide Military Honors. After cremation, burial will be private in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Webster.
