THOMPSON - Ernest W. Kindler, 77, of Becola Road, East Thompson, died Saturday in his home.
He leaves his wife, Ann (Crane) Kindler; a daughter, Clair Sorenson of Oak Harbor, Wash.; two stepdaughters, Elizabeth Tsang of Holden and Elaine Hendershott of Spencer; a brother, Ralph Kindler in New Hampshire; three sisters, Ruth LaPierre of Logansport, Ind., Lois Barker of San Jose, Calif., and Barbara Bayer of Thompson; a grandson; four stepgrandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of Otto and Lilla (Wheelock) Kindler, and lived in the Webster-Thompson area many years.
Mr. Kindler operated Kindler Plumbing Co. of Webster for many years before he retired.
He was a World War II Navy veteran, serving in the South Pacific.
Mr. Kindler was a member of Thompson Congregational Church.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in Thompson Congregational Church. After cremation, his ashes will be scattered at sea. There are no calling hours. The family requests flowers be omitted. Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of Northeastern Connecticut, Box 203, Pomfret Center, Conn., 06259.
