DUDLEY - Frederick W. "Fritz" Marotz, 83, of 74 Mason Road, died Thursday in Hubbard Regional Hospital, Webster, after a brief illness.
His wife of 59 years, Nellie M. (Pienta) Marotz, died in 1995. He leaves a sister, Viola Scheins of Webster; five nieces, including Janice Masi of Webster, who cared for him; and a nephew. Born in Dudley, he was the son of Frederick and Olga (Mauke) Marotz. He graduated from Bartlett High School, Webster, in 1932. He was a World War II Navy veteran.
Mr. Marotz worked at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford, Conn., retiring in 1978. He previously worked at Bell Worsted Co. in Worcester until 1955. He was a clerk 26 years for the Dudley Water Department.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Oxford, the Dudley Veterans Association and Webster Lodge of Masons. He was a sports fan and enjoyed camping and gardening.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow in Robert J. Miller Funeral Home, 366 School St., Webster. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery. Calling is 10 to 11 a.m. tomorrow at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity.
